On March 4, 2026, the 32nd China International Packaging Industry Exhibition Sino-Pack 2026, alongside the 2026 China (Guangzhou) International Packaging Products Exhibition PACKINNO 2026, officially kicked off at Hall B of the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Canton Fair Complex) in Guangzhou. As the first full-industry chain packaging event of the year, the show hit an unprecedented visitor peak on its opening day. Across over 150,000 square meters of exhibition space, more than 2,200 high-quality exhibitors showcased their latest solutions, with non-stop consultation and negotiation at booths. The venue was filled with industrial enthusiasm from machine demonstrations, technical exchanges and forum applause, marking a strong start for innovation and transformation in the 2026 packaging industry, especially for the fast-growing flexible plastic packaging bags segment.
The event also showcased outstanding global influence, with international purchasing delegations from over 15 countries and regions including Poland, Egypt, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and Hong Kong China, as well as more than 100 domestic industry associations and leading enterprise purchasing groups in attendance on the opening day. The gathering of global buyers not only highlights the international influence of the exhibition, but also signals the huge global demand for high-quality packaging solutions, particularly custom flexible packaging for FMCG brands.
This year’s exhibition brought together a massive array of innovative materials and designs, with a strong focus on sustainability, functional design and intelligent manufacturing — three core trends that are reshaping the flexible packaging sector.
These solutions are compatible with existing production equipment, fully compliant with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), and cover diverse scenarios including catering takeout, food preservation, cultural and creative peripherals, and business travel. They provide one-stop green packaging options for catering and food enterprises that balance compliance, practicality and cost-effectiveness, attracting a large number of food and beverage enterprises to stop and experience. For flexible packaging manufacturers, these innovations offer clear direction for developing sustainable flexible packaging solutions that meet global regulatory requirements.
The dedicated pet packaging zone also saw extremely high foot traffic, aligning with the surging demand of the hundreds of billions global pet care economy. The exhibition integrated intelligent packaging equipment (integrated packaging for pet food/pet litter, automated full lines), eco-friendly and functional materials (high-barrier, bio-based degradable materials), and finished product applications, providing one-stop industrial chain solutions. This is exactly the core demand for pet product flexible packaging, as pet care brands increasingly prioritize high-barrier, fresh-keeping, and eco-friendly packaging for their products.
In response to rising labor costs and lean production needs, intelligent upgrading solutions became the most popular category at the exhibition. Flexible collaboration, high-efficiency palletizing, and intelligent integrated solutions drew continuous crowds, as brands and manufacturers look to automate their packaging lines to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Exhibitors presented a full range of mature AI-powered applications, including automatic checkweighers with built-in AI to suppress on-site interference, all-in-one machines that complete weight, appearance and inkjet coding inspection simultaneously, X-ray machines with self-learning algorithms to accurately identify a variety of foreign objects, multi-view visual sorting machines that can capture hair-level micro-impurities, and AI visual all-in-one machines with hyper-converged architecture. These innovations are no longer just concepts, but tangible, ready-to-use solutions that are driving a full-scale revolution in intelligent quality control for packaging production, including for high barrier food packaging bags and other flexible packaging products.
