FoodPack China 2026: What You Missed at Shanghai’s Global Food Packaging Summit
Running June 15-17, this year’s show was bigger than ever, co-located with three other industry events to create a one-stop platform for food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical brands. What really stood out was how international it’s become. Over 100 global companies from Germany, Italy, the US and Japan showcased their latest tech, and thousands of cross-border buyers flew in from Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. For anyone looking to expand internationally, this show is no longer optional—it’s the most important hub in Asia.
The biggest topic by far was global compliance. The show hosted two packed forums: the Global Packaging Technology Summit and Maritime Compliance Forum, where experts broke down the new EU PPWR regulations and FDA food contact material updates. We’ve been warning our clients about these changes for months, but it was clear from the sessions that many brands are still scrambling to get ready. One of our clients in Germany told us they walked away from three potential suppliers at the show because they couldn’t provide proper carbon footprint tracing documentation.
Green packaging was everywhere, but not just the usual buzzwords. Exhibitors were showing real, scalable solutions: recyclable mono-material pouches, compostable films and carbon-neutral packaging lines. What surprised us most was how much demand is coming from emerging markets. Buyers from Southeast Asia and the Middle East were asking just as many questions about sustainability as European brands—this is no longer just a Western trend.
Intelligent manufacturing was another huge focus. Almost every booth had AI-powered filling lines, automatic packaging robots and high-speed labeling machines on display. Brands don’t just want better packaging anymore—they want packaging that integrates seamlessly with their automated production lines. That’s exactly why we’ve been investing so heavily in optimizing our products for high-speed manufacturing over the past year.
At PuroPak, we didn’t need to be at the show to know what the market needs. We’ve been working with export brands for years, and we already have solutions for all the trends we saw this week. Our full line of food grade flexible packaging meets both FDA and EU food contact standards, and our sustainable flexible packaging solutions are fully compliant with the new PPWR regulations. We also offer complete carbon footprint reports for all our products, so you can prove compliance to your global customers.
If you missed the show this year, don’t worry—we’re already updating our product line based on the latest innovations. Whether you’re trying to navigate the new EU regulations, expand into Southeast Asia, or just find more reliable packaging for your brand, we’re here to help.
